July 2020

The highlight of this month's training was getting a 25 second PB in a 10mile TT event in what was my first competitive event for months. I have also entered the same TT for a couple of weeks time and, weather dependant, I will hopefully try to better my time even more.
The rest of my training is going well and I'm looking forward to my first pool swim since lockdown, which I have booked into for next Wednesday. I have enjoyed doing lots of swimming in my wetsuit and my arms feel like they are stronger for it but it's difficult to do high intensity sessions in open water.
Unfortunately, my running and swimming training groups haven't resumed as of yet but hopefully it won't be too far off so I won't need to keep training on my own.
In order to further improve my swimming technique, I have really been trying to focus on my shoulder strength and mobility over the last few weeks. Due to me being quite late onto the swimming scene, there is quite a significant difference between my arm flexibility and that of a lifelong swimmer. Therefore, I'm trying to do a lot of band work to try to improve on this.
It's looking even more promising now that I'll be able to get a couple of triathlon races in before the end of the year so hopefully I will be able to see where I'm at in a race situation in the next few months.
